Doctor, To be Or Not To Be?

“Berubatlah wahai hamba-hamba Allah, sesungguhnya Allah tidak meletakkan penyakit, melainkan meletakkan untuknya ubat, kecuali satu penyakit, iaitu tua” (Riwayat Ahmad, Abu Daud, al-Tirmizi dan Ibn Majah).

“Bagi setiap penyakit ada ubatnya. Apabila betul ubatnya, maka sembuhlah dengan izin Allah.” (Riwayat Muslim).

"Adik, mahu sambung belajar apa?"

"Perubatan!" jawab pelajar cemerlang tnpe ragu2.

Rata-rata dak lepasan spm or pre-u yg dpt keputusan cemerlang mesti nak smbung medic.Kalau bukan medic pon dentistry, pharmacy x pon engineering. Pusing2 tnye orang lain ke situ gak jawapan yg diberi. Memang mentaliti org kite ni mcm nie ke? memang ni je eh kerjaya yg ada kat dunia ni?. 

Jikalau kau menerjah sesuatu kerjaya with passion, Insya-Allah all is well. Tapi, kalau kau tersalah pilih kerjaya solely based on status , money or "first impression", hurmm...tak tau ckp ape. Nanti mnyesal kemudian hari. Memandang kan topic kali ni hnye bertumpu pada medic, Why medic? Sebab course ni critical. Perlu dipilih dgn bijak namun bnyk student straight sambung medic tnpe pikir panjang and then mnyesal tak ke sudah.

Of course. A common question from the other people is that: why must doctor? Mostly akn bgi jwpn begini :

1. Job Secured: oh, ye eh?..nnti dah grad tmpt kerja confirm kt hospital?.At least dah secure tmpt bekerja, x perlu nak cri tmpt lain? Sekarang ni org kata doktor dah ramai. Haha! Those are just lies. Proportion doctor to population still not enough because the number of health centre is still insufficient. Gov must take further action to consider matter. Insya-Allah, kalau ade rezeki boleh la dpt kerja. tapi, kerjaya lain xde masa depan ke? Scientist, Dietician, tu not on demand ke?
2. Parents' Hope : yg ni aku tak berapa setuju. Tapi kite mane boleh kawal pemikiran org kan? But at least we must try to tighten any loose screw in our mentality. Aku x berapa gemar parent yg trlampau control anak2, smpai ade anak2 tu terhalang utk buat ape yg dye minat.Yelahkan, having a child doing medicine is a PROUD u know. Memanglah parents know the best. But parents supposesdly show the BEST guidance to their children. Not by screwing them by setting up their path. Ade tu parent sanggup buat loan semata2 nak anak pursue medic.Ade tu sanggup keluarkan ribuan ringgit utk hantar anak keluar negara sebab anak tak lepas buat medic dlm negara due to certain circumtances.Masalahnya anak melayu kite ni "narrow-minded" skit. Kobar eh , anak yg soleh anak yg mendengar kata .Hati mahu smbung engineering, parent soh buat medic. terpaksalah akur. Cubelah voice out skit based on our true passion. Ramai je org yg drop out in the middle of course due to this matter.Apa-apa pun, istikharah jgn lupe~
3. Bombastic salary! : Yeah it is right .You will have a "long-term finance" if you had become a doctor. But, is the doctor is the richest person on earth?. Exactly not. Businessman is better .No matter what, you must have strong fundamental with good intention to become a doctor. Believe me, there are a lot of ways to gain wealth. Many other job will bring you the better life. Just believe Allah will give you enough "rezeki" in this world.
4. To help people : Maybe this kind of answer might help to understand more about this career. Though narrow-minded people might think there are other ways to help people like joining any non-government association or mercy. But helping people in their health matters is not just go there and help them. It requires high level of knowledge and proper training. A doctor must remember that this career is not just helping people blindly. You need to grasp the true meaning feeling of sympathy, empathy and other qualities that you will learn, if you are willing to continue in this field.
5. I love Science! : Indeed, if you are following your passion, you are on the right path. However, you need to realise that learning theories and practical session with such proper reasoning are such different 'world' . Are you ready for that? Loving Science is not a fault. It might be haywire if you can't find what you like the most, specifically in what course. Furthermore, you must realise that what you learn in school or any college is far beyond your imagination. All you need to prepare whatever outcomes awaits you in the future. Excellent or devastation?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

       Hehehehehhe, aku dulu kecik2 berazam sungguh nak jadi doktor, sebab nampak glam kan. Well, Bruno Mars sendiri dah ckp dlm lyric lgu dye, " Too Young Too Dumb to Realise ". Now aku realise. Aku bersyukur kerana aku tak dipilih utk fly awal . Alhamdulillah. Banyak hikmahnya. Antaranya, Aku sendiri dpt lihat bahawa kli ni aku bnyk peluang utk merapatkn silaturahim sesama keluarga dan kawan2. Selain itu, aku berpeluang utk menyedari hakikat kehidupan seorang doktor. Enrolling a medicine in the UK is one of the most hardest thing to achieve except when it comes to " rezeki". I had plenty of time having attachments with doctors. From them, i got to hear some wise wors from them and get the insight what it is like to become a doctor. Honest said, it is not easy. I try resist from this field but my heart seems not to be parallel with me this time. The most effectious advice to me is that, you really must have strong desire to be a doctor. never give up in the middle of the road. Mostly doctor2 tu grad mesia je kowt. Aha!. Here  are the list of ranking based on the suggestion by most doctors.                       1. UNITED KINGDOM/IRELAND      2. AUSTRALIA         3.  INDIA        4. MALAYSIA / JORDAN             5. INDONISEA  6. EGYPT   7. RUSSIA/ UKRAINE.                                                     

It is weird right, where USA?. System in USA are far deviates from our system.That's why most sponsorship or parents didnt send their children there although USA has better reputation.People might say, rank doesnt matters. Yeah it matters!. It determine how well you will be trained and how far you will go in the next stages of this field especially during housemanship. i'm not downgrading graduates from russia or egypt, but it is the truth. It were said by the doctors themselves based on their own experiences and attachments. They have their reasons on their own. Every places has their own speciality like graduates from middle east were said to have the best ATTITUDE. So, we must look upon each other weaknesess and strength. If you really want to do medicine in spite moderate education background, the doctors said Local Uni is enough. Some unis are worldwide recognised especially UM and USM. In the end, all the graduates  regardless the countries, they will start from scratch when doing housemanship. However, those who came from high rank are the most appealing. In spite other factors, this is not the reason you have to stop where you had already started. No matter where you came from, you just give your best and let Allah do the rest. Who knows how high you achieve in the future ,right? Ganbatte!
